We provide advanced surgical and medical treatment, comprehensive psychological evaluation and support, and an Intensive Treatment Program for symptoms related to Post-Traumatic Stress and Traumatic Brain Injury for post- 9\/11 service members, veterans and their families. The program is available at absolutely no cost to the veterans or service members, and is available to eligible warriors injured during combat operations or while training for service. UCLA Health Operation Mend is a member of the Warrior Care Network.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Origin of Operation Mend<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Operation Mend was envisioned by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/uclahealth.org\/reagan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center<\/a>&nbsp;Board and Executive Committee member Ronald A. Katz after a visit to&nbsp;Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC), a leading burn and rehabilitation center in San Antonio, Texas, where he and his wife Maddie provided a lead gift to build a new 42-unit Fisher House. This visit inspired the Katz family to secure a commitment from UCLA to partner with BAMC on Operation Mend. \u201cI think it is the private sector\u2019s duty to stand up \u2026 and do something extra to help,\u201d said Katz. \u201cI asked UCLA Health if there was a way that we could offer our services and give these kids and their families not only the best the Army has to offer, but the best the country has to offer.\u201d The program is open to members from all service branches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>All medical care, travel and accommodations are provided AT NO COST to Operation Mend participants and their families.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uclahealth.org\/programs\/operationmend\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.woundedwarriorproject.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.uclahealth.org\/programs\/operationmend<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Healing the Wounds of War Operation Mend was established in 2007 as a partnership between UCLA Health and the United States military.
